H5N1 Avian Flu Forum: My Assessment of the Situation: "It’s already too damn late. They know it’s real, they know it’s coming, they know there’s not a damn thing they can do about it because it happened so quickly, that the chain of events un-folding today and next week is beyond their capability to control or prepare for except in very limited instances. They have access to information about this situation and are making judgments and decisions in an effort to preserve what they feel is most important, which is small pockets of people. They are viewing this, and quite correctly so, in much the same way they viewed the outcome of a global thermo-nuclear war that would destroy everything, except that they know that there will be more survivors, that there are going to be repercussions that a major thermo-nuclear exchange would have erased as being possible."
