05/01/06 "Vital Truths" -- - In 1979, depleted uranium (DU) particles escaped from the National Lead Industries factory near Albany, N.Y.,which was manufacturing DU weapons for the U.S military. The particles traveled 26 miles and were discovered in a laboratory filter by Dr. Leonard Dietz, a nuclear physicist. This discovery led to a shut down of the factory in 1980, for releasing morethan 0.85 pounds of DU dust into the atmosphere every month, and involved a cleanup of contaminated properties costing over 100 million dollars.

Imagine a far worse scenario. Terrorists acquire a million pounds of the deadly dust and scatter it in populated areas throughout the U.S. Hundreds of children report symptoms. Many acquire cancer and leukemia, suffering an early and painful death. Huge increases in severe birth defects are reported. Oncologists are overwhelmed. Soccer fields, sand lots and parks, traditional play areas for kids, are no longer safe. People lose their most basic freedom, the ability to go outside and safely breathe. Sounds worse than 9/11? Welcome to Iraq and Afghanistan.

American senators could vote this week to slap tariffs of 27.5 per cent on all Chinese goods, amid a rising clamour of protectionist anger on Capitol Hill.

The sponsors of the so-called Schumer-Graham Bill were in Beijing last week - Chuck Schumer's first official trip overseas in 25 years - to press home the message that China's cheap currency gives it an unfair advantage over the Americans. Schumer, a Democrat who represents New York, and his Republican co-sponsor, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, have been promised a vote on the measure by the end of March.

Beijing announced a revaluation of the yuan last year, but so far it has only been allowed to appreciate against the dollar within tight limits - too slowly for Schumer, who said in Shanghai on Friday: 'We are not going to give up until we've seen a plan [from China].'

The US ran a trade deficit of more than $200bn with China last year, as shoppers sucked in low-cost consumer goods from the fast-growing economy. Like Japan in the Eighties, China is the target of protectionist rhetoric.

'There's a growing antipathy to free trade in Congress, and the Bush administration is fully on board,' says Dan Ikenson of free market think-tank the Cato Institute. Treasury Secretary John Snow has repeatedly pressed the case for the Chinese to float their currency.

SEATTLE -- The conflict in Iraq, launched exactly three years ago as bombs began lighting up Baghdad's midnight skies, has left America's National Guard as one of the most critically wounded casualties of the war.

Since the war began, the Guard has been badly stripped of equipment and resources even as it is tasked with one of the most important on-call jobs on American soil: to be the first line of homeland defense and security in the event of a catastrophic terror attack or a devastating national emergency such as Hurricane Katrina.

Statistics, compiled last year by the Government Accountability Office, are startling:

Non-deployed Guard units have just 5 percent of the lightweight rifles and 14 percent of the machine guns they are authorized to have.

Units nationwide have just 8 percent of the flatbed semi-trailers they are authorized to have and 10 percent of the Humvees.

And despite the fact the Guard likely would be the first force to respond to a terrorist attack, which many experts fear could involve the use of chemical or biological weapons, its units have only 14 percent of their authorized chemical decontamination equipment and virtually none of the chemical agent monitoring equipment they are supposed to have.

'How in the world can we help ourselves or our fellow governors in a natural disaster when we have none of the equipment to do it?' Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire asked.

Gregoire is not alone in her concern. Along with every other U.S. governor, she recently signed a letter to President Bush expressing alarm at the way the National Guard is being funded. More

Globalist fear loss of power and money by pandemic

Telegraph | Opinion |AVIAN pandemic would kill globalisation : "Could globalisation break down again? History suggests it faces two kinds of threat: the natural and the man-made. The most obvious natural threat is that the world could be swept by a pandemic."

[Ed's Note: For those who may harbor some suspicion that the Avian flu virus is a false flag operation, or a “scare” conspiracy created by governments and pharmaceutical companies to reap more power and money, take note that the forces of globalization which are backed by both of these entitles for those very reasons, fear the avian flu will reduce their power and destroy their global markets.]


True, the World Health Organisation has thus far confirmed only 173 cases of avian flu in humans, but more than half of those people died. And the virus has been spreading rapidly westwards from East Asia as far as Western Europe. A small genetic mutation could greatly facilitate its transmission from birds to humans and between humans.

To understand what could happen, consider the impact of the Spanish influenza pandemic of 1918-19. As if to mock the efforts of men to kill one another during the First World War, the virus spread rapidly from America to Europe aboard crowded troop ships. Within three months of the first recorded outbreak in Kansas, it had reached India and Australasia. In all, around 40 million people died, including one in every 100 American males between the ages of 25 and 34.

A pandemic of comparable magnitude would kill globalisation, not least because of the panic it would unleash. International travel would cease. Indeed, all face-to-face meetings would have to be abandoned. Offices, factories and schools would close. We would all be confined to our homes until hunger drove us to don face masks and venture forth to scavenge in deserted supermarkets. In this scenario, there is no need to use a metaphor to convey the danger we face. Every human head would be terrified of inhaling the lethal virus.

Yet this is only one of the ways that history suggests globalisation could end. It is just as possible that we might wreck it ourselves, without any help from a vengeful Nature. After all, the end of the first age of globalisation predated the flu pandemic by some years. The outbreak of world war in 1914 led to an immediate breakdown in international trade.

LA JOLLA, California, March 17, 2006 (ENS) - A team of researchers from three institutions have described a possible pathway for a virulent strain of the avian flu virus H5N1 'to gain a foothold in the human population' that they say would require only 'minor' mutations in the virus.

The H5N1 avian influenza virus, commonly known as bird flu, is a highly contagious and deadly disease in poultry. So far, its spread to humans has been limited, with 177 documented severe infections, and nearly 100 deaths in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, China, Iraq, and Turkey as of March 14, according to the World Health Organization.

'With continued outbreaks of the H5N1 virus in poultry and wild birds, further human cases are likely,' said Ian Wilson, a Scripps Research professor of molecular biology and head of the laboratory that conducted the recent study. 'The potential for the emergence of a human-adapted H5 virus, either by re-assortment or mutation, is a clear threat to public health worldwide.'

Scientists at The Scripps Research Institute, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology identified the pathway by studying A/Vietnam/1203/2004 (Viet04), one of the most pathogenic H5N1 viruses studied so far.

Observations:

1. There is one small plant in Western Europe, (Scotland to be exact) and a plant in Japan. While it is still possible to acquire Vitamin C from the Scotland and Japanese facilities, most pharmaceutical grade Vitamin C imported to the United States is from China. China is now the world leader of manufacture of Vitamin C. However, we believe political or other issues such as flu pandemics can curtail these imports overnight. As of this writing, government officials continue to ignore numerous claims and testimonies from accredited physicians on the healing properties of Vitamin C. On a daily basis, they are sounding warnings and telling citizens to begin now to make there own survival preparations for bird flu, terrorist attacks, and unusual weather and natural phenomenon disasters. These events will be declared National Emergency's and in most scenarios they are saying "You and your community will be on your own!" Go to their web sites. They are telling you to prepare now! However, you will see nothing about Vitamin C and its ability to likely save your life if you get the flu or any other diseases on the list.
